Favourite Books I Read in 2018

2018 is coming to a close so it only makes sense to go back and look at all the books I've read this year. I read over 95 books 2018 (including lots of rereads). There were so many amazing releases in 2018 and I discovered some great backlist books too. This is a list of my top 10 books of 2018; some were released this year and some weren't. I tried to put them in order but it was too hard.

My Favourites Reads of 2017!

I did a lot of rereading these past few weeks but I did read a good few excellent books this year! This is a list of my top 10 books I read in 2017. My Favourite Reads of 2016

Top 10 Contemporary Books I've Read!

It's summer so for me that means picking up some good contemporaries! Here's a list of some of my favourites! I don't read much contemporary books but I managed to scrape together a list of 10! Not all of them are summery but they're all favourites of mine!:

1. My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick (Young Adult)

This is one of my all time favourite summer books to read. It takes place during summer and the characters do lots of summery things like swimming in the pool and going to the beach! There's a big focus on family which I loved! All the characters are so loveable. Highly recommend!

2. Wonder by R.J. Palacio (Middle Grade)
This one isn't necessarily a summery, it actually takes place during the school year but it is one of my favourite contemporaries because of its messages.

3. To All The Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han (Young Adult)
These are just some of the cutest books I've ever read! if youre looking for something light and fluffy pick this one up! I also heard there is going to be a third book released next year so why not read the first two so your ready for the release of the next one!

4. The Summer I Turned Pretty Trilogy by Jenny Han (Young Adult)
As you can probably tell by the title this trilogy is definitely a summer read. But don't let the titles and covers deceive you. This series has a serious emotional punch. It's not all cute adorable moments, though there is quite a few! These books focus a lot on family which I great!

5. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell (Young Adult)
Fangirl is a must read for any fangirl/fanboy. It takes place during the school year but is a great contemporary about finding yourself and going to college. If you're starting college in the autumn why not pick this up and see how Cath survived her first year there!

6. Anna and the French Kiss Trilogy/Companion series by Stephanie Perkins (Young Adult)
None of these books are particularly summery but they are all super easy quick reads. I'd recommend marathoning these books!

7. Any book written by Colleen Hoover (My favourites are November 9 and Slammed) (New Adult)
Colleen Hoover's books are heavier than some of the other books on this list.  But she always gets the right balance between cute happy moments and the heartbreaking emotional ones. I'd recommend her books if your looking for a bit of an emotional contemporary thats not all about a cute romance! (Keep in mind her books are New Adult!)

8. I'll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson (Young Adult)
I'd recommend picking up Jandy Nelson if you're looking for absolutely beautiful writing. There's a big emphasis on family in this one too, the focus mainly on siblings.

9. Any book written by Morgan Matson (personally I love Since You've Been Gone and The Unexpected Everything) (Young Adult)
If your going to read anything this summer pick up Morgan Matson. All her books are so summery.

10. We Were Liars by E. Lockhart (Young Adult)
Some people says We Were Liars is contemporary and some people says it's not. What is though is summery. The story takes place on an island during the summer. If you're looking for a book that will get you thinking pick up this one!

My Top 10 Favourite Series

This is a list of my top 10 favourite series as of right now (March 2016). This list will more than likely change over time so I will do an updated list in the future. All the series on this list I have finished or I have read all the books that are currently out. It's list is in no particular order because it's to difficult to put them in an order, I love them all. I have read every book on this list multiple times!
(Also I've added links to Goodreads for the first book in the series in case you want to add them to your ever growing TBR.)

1. Percy Jackson and The Olympians by Rick Riordan

This is a given since Percy Jackson is probably my favorite character of all time. This series is just so much fun. It's a hilarious, action packed middle grade story that everyone will love regardless of how old they are. I learned so much about Greek Mythology from this series.

2. Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling

What's a favourites list if Harry Potter isn't mentioned?

3. The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare

My favourite trilogy of all time.I love the shadowhunter universe so it's no wonder The Infernal Devices is on my list. If you have tried to get into Cassandra Clare's other shadowhunter series but didn't like it try this one. Personally I think this trilogy is her best work to date. It has the best love triangle I've ever read. It's such an emotional series had me sobbing at some points and laughing so hard I couldn't breathe at other. Clockwork Princess is one of the best finales I've ever read!

4. Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas

The word I use to describe this series is 'epic'. I loved book 1 but I know people have trouble getting into this series so push through book 1 and I promise you won't regret it. This one of those series that gets better with each book. It's full of badass characters that will steal your heart. The Assassins Blade is a bind up of prequel novellas. Personally I read it before reading Throne of Glass but it doesn't matter when you read it but I'd recommend you read it before reading Queen of Shadows!

5. The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

The Lunar Chronicles is perfect for those who love fairytales and Disney movies. It's so much fun seeing the stories we know and love spun in such a creative way.This is a scifi, dystopian that has so many adorable ships it's ridiculous. its impossible to pick a favourite

6.  The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

The Hunger Games is on my list because it holds a special place in my heart; it was the first YA book I ever read and it sparked my love for reading. Since picking it up back in 2012 I haven't stopped reading.

7. Vampire Academy and Boodlines by Richelle Mead

Vampire Academy and Bloodlines are amazing books, don't let the awful covers put you off. Trust me both series are full of badass and hilarious characters. Book 1 isn't the best but after that it gets so good; especially the spin off series.

8.  The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare

The Mortal Instruments was one of the first big series I ever read. I love this series because it introduced me to fandom and ships and all that other fun stuff. Plus it's special to me because my sister and I read them together. I love the characters in this series so much; I don't even know how many times I've reread the books, at one point thy were all I read for months.

9.  The Darkest Minds Trilogy by Alexandra Bracken

This series made the list because it has characters I love. That's really the only reason. Ruby and the gang are all favourites of mine. I could read books about them forever.

10. The Heroes of Olympus by Rick Riordan

Heroes Of Olympus is the spin off series of Percy Jackson and The Olympians. The main characters are older so the series is aimed more at a YA audience. It's hilarious and action packed like all of Riordan's books.
